Hittin’ the Tapas Trail

Hi, everyone! This past weekend, the fabulous foursome (us, of course) hit up the Tapantoni route -- that is, various participating restaurants in the Sant Antoni neighborhood of Barcelona offer a special something for a few weeks. What is it? A tapa and a drink for 2 euros! So, we printed out our PDF of the Tapantoni map and took the L2 line -- down to our old bustlin’ neighborhood.

 First stop - Bar Nostalgic.
A small toast smothered with fig jam and topped with gin-infused anchovy fillet. Plus a tiny beer.
In fact, the waiter at that bar recommended the place next door where they were serving patatas bravas, fried potatoes with a special sauce. The waitress said it was a secret recipe. And I SWEAR, she said something about a raccoon. When my Spanish fails me, I just nod and smile...
We passed by some neat places that we haven’t seen in awhile. A vintage furniture store. Suh-weet! Hitting up this place if/when we move.
I’d love to come back during the day and take some photos. The details in Barcelona are everywhere...
Our last stop was Tolón Tolón, such a tiny space but had some delightful pastries and other packaged goods.
 Syrups and jellies.
 Apricot marmalade.
 August peaches in syrup.
Their specialty --  magdalenas and some hot chocolate.
The best “tapa” for sure. Fresh cream topped with chocolate chips. On my last magdalena, Fernando told me to dip it in the chocolate. It was divine! And I had already eaten two non-dipped. That means there has to be a next time.
When Mateo wasn’t trying to practice his walking skills in the shop, he was scarfing down a pastry.
 Chocolate iPhones, I mean Aifons.
We enjoyed! It ends on November 30, so maybe we’ll have time to discover more restaurants ;-)
