Mercat de Mercats - Food Galore!

Hi, people! The weather is still so warm in Barcelona, and I'm loving it! I mean...it's the perfect weather all year. Not cold enough for a heavy jacket or not hot enough to be sweating like a pig. Sooo... this past weekend we went to the Mercat de Mercats, a weekend food festival with food stalls from the famed neigborhood markets, including a few of those of the highly regarded La Boquería.

Come on in...

The foodie event was held at the square right in front of the Barcelona Cathedral.
Color!
 Spaniards loove their meat products.
Lots of folks took advantage of the samples.
Hanging meat, rolled up meat, reclining meat...
 ...and meat on a stick!
People even dared to sell fish out here. Any tourists out there willing to ice-pack some imported fish?
 The glorious Northern pintxos.
It's predictable in Spain that things get crazy crowded after 5pm.
There was a nice drumming band that came to get the crazy foodfest going.
If I were to be a drummer in this band, I would be this woman. She was having SO MUCH FUN!!
Thanks for visiting!

Mateo - Happy Thirteen Months!

Hello out there! It's in the low 80s here in humid Barcelona, and it's already...Rock-tober? We are still wearing our short sleeves and shorts, and I am refusing to wear jeans yet. (I did it once. I felt very sticky.)

In the meantime, I am baaaack. Meaning that I'm feeling my American-expat-living-in-a-foreign-country self, and it's OKAY. I'm back to speaking my sometimes-fumbling Spanish and seeing lots of understanding expat friends to keep me sane. Oh, and I got my awesome 3/4ths of course!

This is when the trouble started happening. Trouble = me chasing a cruising kid everywhere.
My dad taught Mateo to do the infamous "beautiful eyes". In Filipino culture, you say "Beautiful eyes!" to a baby, and he flutters his eyelashes. It's pretty no fail and sooooo funny!
"I can't wait until Mateo's a walking, talking baby!" Sista doesn't know what she's asking for,
Still in California enjoying the beach. Thinking about it makes me feel so relaxed.
Mateo loves the sand.
Paloma realizing the complications that a walking baby can bring.
There's a first for everything. And if you're in California, it means never skipping out on having a supreme hamburger at In-N-Out. It would be a sin.
Mateo and I also had some swimming classes at the same time as Paloma also.
Back home in Barcelona. Mateo tears up Paloma's bookshelf...and everything else in the apartment.
And he could open and close doors 2,492 times a day.
My 3/4ths had fun making a little train at home. Choo choo!

The way Mateo explores every room, you would think our tiny home was Disneyland.
Nevertheless, it's all worth it. Cheers, friends!
