An Afternoon Retreat at a Special Lake

Hello, lovely people! A few weeks ago, we were invited by some friends to go to the Parc de La Creueta del Coll, which used to be used as an old quarry. (quarry (n.) = place where stones or materials are extracted). Not too far of of a trek for us using public transportation, the park is located at the base of some hills of Barcelona. There is a small lake in the middle, which becomes a public swimming pool in the summertime. Come and see!

Ideal for families, a playground welcomes the children at the entrance of the pool.
The pool is divided into two sides. On one side, you can play in the thigh-high deep water or even participate in a game of volleyball.
The pool is really perfect for little ones since they can touch the floor. Paloma acted like the "Whale Rider" while her daddy was the large creature.
There is lots of room to unwind on the grass. Families can enjoy the tall, green hills and a very curious sculpture of a concrete claw suspended by steel cables.
On the other side of the lake, you can take a casual ride in a canoe like these two did.
Paloma and Fernando look on as they figure out what not to do to let their boat tip. Either way, you won't drown!

Looks like they're going for the silver in this race!

Barcelona is really full of hidden gems. Thanks for looking!
